    Rental Renovation Updates

Our renovations are finally complete and we officially have the place fully rented with income coming in. The renovations have really come along nicely, fully completed, and the unit is now rented. The other tenant was away for a few weeks so we took that opportunity to redo the bathroom there as it was needed. Now with the house fully rented the LLC’s bank account is growing rapidly and it is time to look for a second duplex or single family home to rent. Will post more about that one later, but wanted to have an update. In all we probably put roughly $30,000 into the place on both sides.…

West Quarry and Mount Rand Hike

Successfully completed our loop climbing East Quarry to West Quarry and then onto Mount Rand and back. 4.67 Miles with a 1,293 elevation Our trip too us roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes. We were taking our time overall and the Mrs twisted her ankle coming down Rand – she was tired – so that slowed us down also. The key take away from the injury is to take along some snacks. We’ve been doing quite a few of the easy hikes and while it was only two hours if your body doesn’t have enough fuel to keep going you’re bound to get injured. EAST QUARRY Both peaks on this…

Spent a Night in Rome Italy

Traveled to Italy for work and spent most of the week in the southern tip on the coast. We had long days and truly did a lot of work, but in the evening we were able to hit a few of the local haunts for a drink I did not need to understand Italian to know which bathroom was mine! Eventually the week was over and took a flight to Rome. The next morning I would be flying home, but I was able to explore Rome at night. It had just rained so the streets were pretty empty. This gave me some amazing access and photos of some of the…

Cooking the Perfect Steak – Part 2

After cooking a ribeye steak in part 1 and taking what I learned from that, I figured it was time to tackle it again. So once again, I grabbed a ribeye. This was nice and thick. I added on a rub and some red pepper flakes because I do like some spice. While that was resting, I got out my cast iron pan and added some butter, garlic, and onions. Once I started seeing some browning on the garlic and onions, I then added the steak and cooked at perfectly medium heat for 5 minutes a side So this is coming out better than I could have hoped right now.…

    Whiteface Mountain – Success!

On Mother’s day, we successfully summited Whiteface Mountain. Last time we had to turn back half way due to an oncoming thunderstorm which we just barely beat as we ran down and made it to the car. This time, I’m happy to report, we did not run into such impediments. We made it to the place we were forced to turn around last time and kept on going. The day was cold and windy. We were warm enough with the correct clothing and gloves. The sun did eventually come out and while the wind did not die down, the sun was a welcomed reprieve. The trail at the piper/whiteface split…
