Living in the country most of the kids go down town where all the houses are close together. It’s a bit of a tradition. So much so, they have the towns-folk donate candy to the houses down town. This year they shut that down. So our small neighborhood decided to step it up a notch. We normally make it a big deal for the small kids in the area – run it an hour earlier than normal so kids in our area can hit the local houses and then go down to the town. It’s that time of year again. Another year we we pick up three crates of apples and press it into cider. We had a great crew show up this year. Lots of the regulars and a few new faces also. In total we bottled around 120 gallons of cider. Kept 10 gallons to make hard cider. The bulk of the Seiter was bottled into half gallon jugs with enough headspace so they could be frozen and thawed out for later use and enjoyment

This is a photo of my dog Penny, the day after her surgery. She had an enlarged and cancerous spleen. There was no guarantee if the cancer had spread. She wasn’t eating. The options were to have her put down, or try for a surgery where a good outcome with slim. We knew there was no choice but to go for the surgery. We were told the risks since she is almost 14 years in age and signed the DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) if something went wrong during surgery. Decided it was time to step up my fitness game and get outside and do some trail running. I’ve been eating well, but my weight loss has stalled and been stagnant for a month or two now. I’m going to try and keep better track of my caloric intake but also add in some light cardio to go with my current weight lifting routine. Regretfully it has been getting darker earlier and earlier. Might need to start bringing a head lamp? Or maybe run early in the morning? Yeah, probably not that. I’m not exactly a morning person. Clocks change soon… Will make some decisions then.
